This course is designed to satisfy the training requirements set forth in OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030). By the end of the course, participants will be able to: - Define what constitutes a bloodborne pathogen and OPIM, and list key pathogens of concern. - Recognize how occupational exposure can occur (e.g. needlestick, splash to mucous membranes) - Describe the key elements of OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) - Explain the purpose and components of an Exposure Control Plan - Demonstrate the selection and proper use of PPE (gloves, gowns, face/eye protection) - Outline safe handling of sharps and disposal of regulated waste - Describe the steps to take in a post-exposure incident, including medical follow-up - Apply housekeeping and decontamination procedures for contaminated surfaces and laundry - Identify responsibilities for reporting, recordkeeping, and refresher training A certificate of completion will be awarded to document successful training. 90 days to complete 60 mins of instruction time
