This HAZWOPER First Responder Awareness (FRA) course is designed for employees who may encounter hazardous material spills in the workplace. It is intended for individuals who are likely to witness or discover a release, recognize its significance, and promptly notify the appropriate authorities. FRA-level responders are not expected to take further action beyond recognition and notification. This course meets the training requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(i). Topics covered in this course include: - Understanding what hazardous substances are and the risks associated with them in an incident. - Recognizing the potential outcomes of emergencies involving hazardous substances. - Identifying the presence of hazardous substances during an incident. - Understanding how to identify hazardous substances, when possible. - Knowing the role of the First Responder Awareness level employee within the employer’s emergency response plan, including site security and control. - Understanding the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Response Guidebook and how it applies to initial response actions. A certificate of completion will be awarded to document successful training. 90 days to complete 1.5 hours of instruction time
